Monopoly in the Park is operated by Friends of San Jose, a 501c3 registered non-profit organization. Formed in 1994, Friends of San Jose was created to be the fiscal agent to the San Jose Earthday Family Festival (for 12 years) and as a means to preserve, protect and coordinate the 930 square foot custom granite Monopoly game board for future generations to enjoy.
The giant, granite Monopoly board, originally produced as a display for a San Francisco Garden and Landscape Show, is the only officially licensed Monopoly game board of its kind in the world. In addition to the board itself, the wearable game tokens (car, thimble, boot, etc), the scale replicas of houses and hotels, and the scale 3'x3'x3' game dice combine to make playing the game a larger-than-life game experience.
The Friends of San Jose board of directors, along with their Director of Fun, would like to invite you to Discovery Meadow to take a roll of our large dice, pass GO, and see how playing Monopoly in the Park is the perfect venue for a school trip, a family outing, or a corporate team building event.
